Lee Calvin Hand's Obituary
Funeral services for Lee Calvin Hand, age 79, of Henderson will be held Tuesday May 20, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Calvary Baptist Church in Henderson with the Rev. Bill Kuykendall and Steve Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mr. Hand passed away Saturday May 17, 2008 at his residence.
Lee Calvin Hand was born December 1, 1928 in the Roquemore Community and was a lifelong resident of Rusk County. He was 1948 graduate of Henderson High School.
He was a self employed welder and a insurance sale person for Aflac Insurance. Mr. Hand was member of the Calvary Baptist Church , where he was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, member of the choir, and chairman of the missions committee.
Lee was also a trustee of the Texas Baptist Institute in Henderson. In his spare time he loved to hunt, fish, and play his guitar.
He was preceded in death by his parents W.C. & Alice Hand, brothers J.T. Hand & William Hand, and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Gwen Hand of Henderson, sons Bruce Hand & wife Glenda of Palestine, Kenneth Hand of Annona, brothers Preston Hand of Henderson, & Wallace Hand & wife Ruby of Gladewater, sister Mary Hand Twomey of Longview, grandchildren Kasi Miller & husband Chad of Henderson, Kyle Hand of Easley S.C., great grandchildren Ava & Braxton Miller of Henderson, brothers & sisters in law Dalton Jones & wife Betty of Henderson, & Frances & H.D. Coursey of Terrell, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gyce Butler, Drew Butler, Ryan Butler, Jake Lane, Jason Holland, Landon King, Judson Knight, and Tim Steinbach.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Lybrand & Frank Lane, Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church, trustees & faculty of Texas Baptist Institute, trustees emeritus of TBI, and Texas Game Wardens.
Visitation will be from 6pm – 8pm Monday night at the Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made the Building Fund of Calvary Baptist Church, 410 N. Marshall, Henderson, Texas 75652
