I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Ray Hawkins. He had a profound impact on my life and I will always have fond memories of the time he was my Sunday School teacher--over 45 years ago. I remember Mr. Hawkins as a "man's man". Muscular and tough on the outside but a warm and compassionate man inside to the children of our church. I remember Mr. Hawkins giving a stick of gum to all the kids in his class at church each Sunday morning. I always looked forward to getting that piece of gum from him.
We need more Ray Hawkins in this world today. Strong men who love and support their families. A man who provides a positive example to other young men, and a man of quiet resolve that lets his deeds rather than his words do the talking for him.
I am extremely thankful that I was able to have a positive role model such as Ray Hawkins in my life.
My deepest condolences to Ms. Hawkins, Lonita, Sandy, and your entire family during this difficult time.##imported-begin##David L. Brooks##imported-end##
Pansy,
I remember a lot of good times with your family, especially Mr. Ray. He always had a smile on his face, and he was compasssionate and kind to others. The gum he would give out to the kids at church is a very fond memory. I know you and the girls will miss him, but he is with the Lord and that should be a blessing to know. We love you and please keep in touch with Mom and me. Tell Sandy how sorry I am for the loss of a father because every girl still wants to be "Daddy's little girl." We love you.

Pansy,
Ray was a good high school friend. Time moves so fast and there are so many things we should have done. I should not have lost contact with a good friend, but I remember him in our school days. You are in my prayers.##imported-begin##James Hunt##imported-end##
