June Pollet Shelton's Obituary
Services for June Pollet Shelton, 81, of Longview will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at the Chapel of Rader Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Shelton passed away on December 26 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Shelton was born on June 30, 1923, in New Orleans, LA. to Michael S. and Clemence Burkenstock Pollet. She graduated from Holy Child of Jesus Academy and Loyola University in New Orleans, LA. in 1945 with a B.S. in Medical Technology. She received a Master?s Degree in Biological Sciences from Texas Woman?s University in 1963. She retired from Kilgore College in 1989 after 25 years as an instructor in the Biology Department.
She was involved in many community activities. She was a member of and served as President of the following Women?s Organizations: Longview Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, Longview Fine Arts, Longview Music Club, American Association of University Women of Longview, and she was very active in the Longview Community Theater. She was registered as a Medical Technologist for over 50 years. She was a member of St. Anthony?s and St. Mary?s Catholic Churches.
She was married to Theodore ?Ted? McQuown Shelton on October 11, 1947 in New Orleans, LA, and moved to Longview in January of 1951. They were married for 54 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Shelton. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Byron and Sharon Shelton of Longview; one  daughter, Kathy Shelton McBride of Longview; 3 grandchildren, Benjamin Shelton, Bonnie Shelton, and Jon Claud McBride; 2 brothers, Michael S. Pollet, JR. and Clement J. Pollet of New Orleans; 1 brother-in-law, Byron E. Shelton of Corrigan, TX.; and many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered by her many former students and colleagues at Kilgore College as a caring instructor who loved teaching and loved people. She will also be remembered for her countless contributions to the community in the area of fine arts.
