My mother, Blanche Woodall, was also a resident at Eastman Estates, with Mrs. Shelton. We enjoyed visiting with her and always took delight in her cheery disposition. Mother died on December 20, and I have not had time to visit the website until now. Mrs. Shelton, It seems like yesterday when I seen you. Had I known that when I saw you at the Clairmont when I was visiting my grandmother it would be our last time sharing I would have stayed a little longer. Thank-you for your conversation when I worked with you at Eastman Estates, and thank-you for your laughter. Most of all I'm thankful for your wisdom even in that short of time you shared with me. What a wonderful woman she was. I was born in Longview in 1966 and lived across the street from the Shelton's until around '77 when my Dad accepted a job with Exxon and we moved to Baytown.
As a young boy, going over to Mrs. Shelton's house was ten times better than any school field trip anyone could go on. From playing in that huge front yard on a steep hill with all of the trees to stirring up the chickens in her back yard to watching chicken eggs hatch in the oven in her kitchen, she provided me with years of entertainment.
