I worked with Bill Jennings at the District Attorney's office from 1982 through 1984 when he left to go into private practice. We became friends. I used to brag about what an awesome attorney he was. I asked him one day why he was representing a certain criminal and he said he took an oath that everyone deserved the best defense he could give them no matter what. That has always stuck with me.

I left Longview in 1988 and whenever I came back to Longview for a visit, I always went to the D.A.'s office to see him.

I received a call last night and was told that Bill had died. I am so sorry. He was and will always be the best.

William "Bill" Jennings will be remembered and missed each and every day for a very long time by people from all walks of life. I felt like he was one of the fairest people ever fighting for justice.He was athenic , caring, well respected in every aspect.A man who believed in second chances for all. He was honest, intellegent and by far a gift to this city.county and state. We all lost Bill. Bill will truley be missed by the entire Sparks family. Our childhood times together in Carthage will always be a blessing. We were neighbors, friends, and like a family.
