John Stanley Ferrell's Obituary
John Stanley Ferrell, born August 9, 1952 in Texarkana, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2003 in Herrmann Memorial Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Stanley moved to Longview with his family in 1952, graduating from Longview High School in 1970. Stanley graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from SMU in 1975. After completion of his MBA, Stanley worked in Longview with Stan-Ann Oil Company, later with Magnum Corporation. During his time in Longview, he was an active member of First Baptist Church. He was also involved with the Longview Community Theater playing the lead role in numerous productions. For the past twelve years, Stanley lived and worked in Houston, Texas. His employment included several years with The Dini Partners, Inc. as a counselor in philanthropy and a nonprofit manager. He was currently employed with Adell, Harriman and Carpenter, Inc., an investment management firm, as Chief Financial Officer.
Stanley was preceded in death by his younger sister, Martha Leah Ferrell. Survivors include his parents: David and Helen Ferrell of Longview; sister: Dianne Ferrell Neal and husband Jim of Nashville, TN.; Niece: Sarah Manise Cooper of Chicago, IL.; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Extended Family: Steve and Sherry Adell, Julie, Emily, Daniel and Katie Adell of Houston.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 8, from 5 to 7 PM at Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9, at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church of Longview with Dr. Bob Campbell and Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. An additional memorial service will be held at 4 PM Saturday, January 11, in Houston at Westbury Baptist Church where Stanley was a member.
