My memories of John is that he one of the very first people I met when I moved back to Kilgore in 1990. We were in Jaycees together and he helped me meet many new friends. He also helped us over and over when I had insurance issues with teenage drivers. I know he was well liked and did a great deal for the Kilgore community. He will be missed by many. John was my very first boss. I was a co-op student at KHS several years ago so I would go to school for half a day and then go to work. He was the best boss I ever had! It was always a Monday requirement that we listen to the News Talk Radio, at least until he went to lunch and then Penny and I would sneak back to the break room and change it. He's probably the one person who helped me shape my political opinions too, to be quite honest! It's probably silly to think about things like that now, but they are good memories. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know how much John seemed to love life and he was such an active participant when others prefer to just stand by and watch. I loved to tease him about his buffalo hunts, but really loved to fuss at him for "sky busting" those ducks. We will miss him when duck hunting this coming season and for seasons to come, but at the same time we will remember him and honor his memory.
