Jimmie Lou Mayeaux's Obituary
Jimmie Lou Richardson Mayeaux, 86, a long time resident of Longview died on January 20 at Grace Living Center in Edmond, OK. She was born on October 9, 1922 in Hallsville, TX, the daughter of James and Lula Black Richardson. She was preceded in death by her parents and two older brothers and sisters in law: Lawson and Vera Richardson and Milton and Vergie Richardson.
Jimmie Lou leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Edwin, daughter: Judy Quinn and husband Mike, granddaughter: Elise Connor, all of Edmond, OK., nieces: Mrs. Vera Alice Bangs of Dallas, TX, Mrs. Mary Frances Pharis of The Woodlands, TX and a nephew James Lawson Richardson of Bastrop, TX.
She graduated from Harlingen High School in Harlingen, TX and attended Southwest University in San Marcos. While working in the county clerk's office in Marshall she attended a USO dance at Camp Fannin in Tyler and met the love of her life – Edwin. They married on April 29, 1945 in Hallsville, TX and would have soon celebrated their 64th anniversary.
Jimmie Lou was devoted to The First Presbyterian Church of Longview. She served as president of the Women of the Church which lead to her being awarded an honorary life membership. She proudly served as chairman of various women's circles and was always willing to assist the church in any way.
A true social butterfly, Jimmie Lou served in several offices in the Longview Garden Club and Longview Women's Forum. She was a member of the Zonta Club, Lion's Club Auxiliary and was especially fond of her "Birthday Club". She loved music and was an active member of Prelude and the Longview Symphony Guild. The Mayeauxs' rarely missed a musical performance.
Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday, January 25. A private graveside service at Rosewood Park Cemetery will precede an 11 AM memorial service on Monday, January 26, at the First Presbyterian Church, Longview, with Reverend Jonathan Jehorek officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Longview Symphony Guild or First Presbyterian Church.
