Jerry Glenn Fountain's Obituary
Jerry Glenn Fountain, age 70, of Henderson, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home in the Church Hill community on September 12, 2025, just two days shy of his 71st birthday.
Born on September 14, 1954, in Henderson, Texas, Jerry was the son of James and Mary Fountain. A lifelong resident of the area, Jerry deeply valued the simple, meaningful life that East Texas offered. He carried with him a strong sense of family, community, and faith throughout his days.
Jerry worked as a welder and fabricator for his entire life, having learned the trade from his father, James Fountain, at a young age. Proudly following in his father’s footsteps, he worked faithfully in this trade for over 50 years, building a legacy of hard work and dedication.
Outside of work, Jerry loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who cherished time spent in nature. He had an extensive collection of fishing lures, which he took great pride in, always ready to swap stories about “the one that got away.” Whether he was sitting by the water’s edge or walking through the woods, being outdoors brought him peace and joy.
A devoted member of Tyler Road Baptist Church in Henderson, Jerry served his congregation as the song-leader and treasurer. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he loved the Lord deeply.
Jerry had a great sense of humor and loved to talk to anyone who would listen, brightening the days of many with his quick wit and friendly conversation. Jerry could often be found with a can of Copenhagen in his pocket and a Dr. Pepper in his hand.
On October 7, 1972, Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Sabrina Wilcox, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned over five decades. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and commitment, rooted in friendship and shared values.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sabrina Wilcox Fountain; his two children: Jeremy Fountain and wife Laura Fountain, and Shannon Howeth and husband Chaney Howeth, all of Henderson, Texas; and his three sisters: Sherri Puckett (his twin) and husband Larry, Carolyn Mathis and husband Clint, and Kathy Henderson, all of Henderson. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Billy Hanvy, of Henderson.
Jerry was a proud grandfather to Jacob Howeth and his fiancée, Amy Thomas, Dalton Howeth and his girlfriend, Katie Ross, all of Henderson; Brad Fountain and wife Kassi Fountain, also of Henderson; and David Fountain, U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, and wife Lori Beth Fountain, currently stationed in Fort Walton, Florida. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
He leaves behind an extended family and many dear friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Fountain, of Henderson.
We find comfort knowing Jerry is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His body is healed, and he is no longer in pain.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Tyler Road Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Graveside service and interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in the Church Hill community.
Services are under the direction of Charles Rader Funeral Home of Henderson, Texas, and pastor Bryan Teer of Tyler Road Baptist Church in Henderson, TX.
