My dear cousins Jayne and Kim and Jerry's dearest husband, Jackie,
It was with shock and sorrow that I just read about your darling mother's and wife's passing. I have known for several years that her health was failing but I hadn't heard anything in so long, I had hoped she was doing well.
Jerry Ann had a long and fulfilling life. She was a wonderful wife to my darling cousin Jimmy, supporting him in his endeavors and interests and helping him through until his time on earth came to an end giving no thought to the sacrifices that devotion required..
It was a wonderful blessing when Jackie, her schoolmate at Longview High, came back into her life. Not only did he provide the much-needed companionship that even cherished children cannot, but he was there to see her through all the trials that accompanied her health issues that seemed to escalate after Jimmy passed.
I know how it feels to lose, a loving, doting father, a wonderful and supporting husband, and a giving, devoted mother. None of those losses are taken lightly. None are more grievous than others. They are just different, perhaps in only subtle ways, but different all the same. However, the loss of one's mother is a heavy challenge to a son or daughter's mettle. I know that both of you, and you, dear Jackie, are up to facing life without this lovely girl's presence. She is gone only in body. Her spirit is there to watch over your and yours through the rest of your own days. Try to find comfort in that.
I thank the good Lord for bringing Jerry Ann Allen into my cousin Jimmy Eason's life. They were so right for one another.
I am quite sure that Jerry Ann was also the perfect fit for you, Jackie. You brought such happiness to her in the last phase of her life. The Eason side of her family has felt much gratitude to you for rekindling a very old spark that had never been totally extinguished by time and life. Only those who have enjoyed a happy marriage can truly understand what the loss of a beloved husband or wife means.
I wish I could be there for Jerry Ann's service, but that is not possible. However, I will be there in my thoughts.
I know you will find comfort in your loved ones and your devoted friends. Keep the faith.
Love,
Betty Arnold Henderson (daughter of Jimmy Eason's aunt Willie Lee Eason Arnold)
