Jay A. Ballard's Obituary
Memorial services for Jay A. Ballard, 77, of Longview will be 4 PM Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dan Miller officiating. Interment will precede the memorial service at 11 AM Wednesday in Forest Park Cemetery at Greenville, TX. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. where visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM.
Jay was born September 19, 1927 in Eustace, Texas to James and Stel Ballard.
He passed away at his residence, Monday, November 15, 2004.
Jay had been a resident of Longview since 1954 coming from Greenville, TX, where he was also a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy.
He was a data processor for the oil and gas industry and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Longview where he served in many positions including Chairman of the Administrative Board, and was a founding member of the Henry L. Foster Sunday School Class. Jay was also a member of the Longview Downtown Rotary Club, where he recently received his 50 year member pin. He helped establish Asbury House and was the first President of Asbury House in 1969.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Crow Ballard; children, Andy Ballard and wife, Dianne of Franklin, TN; Elizabeth McDowell and husband, Bruce of Andover, KS; Beverly and Bill Warren of Plano; Jed and Nancy Crow of Conroe and Bob and Shelley Crow of Plano; grandchildren, Kirby and Kay McDowell and Nancy Ballard; and nine step grandchildren.
Mr. Ballard was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Butler Ballard.
