I met Jan and Max through my late husband Lawrence Kletter. Jan and Larry were at Hunter together, and remained good friends thereafter. We saw them when they came to NYC , and when we went to Texas, and wrote between times. In 2013, Jan lost Max a month before I lost Larry. We supported each other afterwards. I was concerned when I had not heard from her, and found out on line. She was a wonderful, caring woman and a multi-talented artist. I will miss her. Annette F Kletter.

I met Jan over 30 years ago and found her to be a caring, enthusiastic, supportive person of the Longview community, whether it was through art, music, or beauty. She encouraged everyone to find his or her special gift and to use it to bring joy and peace to others. Working with her in these areas was pure joy, and her contributions will live on forever in the lives of those she touched. My prayer is that God will bless and strengthen the family, friends, and those whose lives have an empty space now because of the loss of this special friend. We will miss her.

What a privilege to have known such a wonderful, energetic, creative lady! Working and playing with her was always a joy. We had planned to spend Tuesday, the 20th, together doing water aerobics in the morning, visiting at my home then taking a trip to Kilgore to see O. Rufus Lovett's "Last Picture Show" photography exhibit. Her books and some of her art work will be with me, but her smile and positive attitude will be sorely missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I have fond memories of attending exhibits of Jan's paintings in Marshall, Tyler, Kilgore and Longview. Her tragic accident is a great loss for all of East Texas. She was a good friend and I will miss her. I hope it helps to know that so many are remembering her and thinking of you with love in your loss.
