Dear Charlotte,

Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!

It's been many years since I have said that to you and Jim, but the memory is still very strong and vivid.

As Ben and I are planning on expanding our family soon, I can only think of the wonderful childhood I had running around our neighbood. I hope we are as lucky to have neighbors as special to our kids as you and Jim are to me and my brother and sisters.

Charlotte,

Your home has been my favorite to trick-or-treat at since I found out what Halloween was! Even after I became "too old" to go trick-or-treating, each year there would be a special trip made anyway just to see you and Jim.

I was so proud when the two of you visited our church follies to listen to me sing at a young age. "My favorite neighbors are here! They came to watch me!" However, y'all are of course more than neighbors! You and Jim have had a big hand in helping to raise me and all of my siblings.

If it takes a village to raise a child, how did Jim and Charlotte handle so many of us? - with love, laughter and patience. Jim lives on through all of us. Jim was like a grandfather to me. Living 2 houses down from Jim and Charlotte was a major blessing for those many years. I loved spending time with Jim. He always made me laugh. I appreciate everything Jim did for me. I am truly sorry for this loss. To Charlotte: You know I will always be around for you to call and I will be happy to come over and visit with you often. Charlotte,

What a joy it has been to know you and Jim for the past 25 years, and especially to have you be a part of our family and our children's lives all these years.

Jim was always good for a joke and to make the day a little lighter. He also was one to encourage whenever needed. I will particularly miss him as my 'email buddy'!

Also, he loved his family so much! He loved telling about Ginger and Lonnie, and Lou - and especially Justin, Corey, and Andrew. I'll miss his 'OU' and 'fishing stories' more than I would ever have thought.

I know you will miss him deeply, as so many will...just know that we are here for you anytime, for anything.
