James Christopher "Chris" Weatherford's Obituary
James Christopher "Chris" Weatherford, 65, passed away suddenly early on the morning of October 29th while running the feature race at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood LA. Chris was a resident of Longview TX for more than 20 years and member of the racing community.
Chris is proceeded in death by his wife Eve Weatherford and father James Patrick Weatherford. He is survived by his mother Edith Weatherford, sister Teresa Hall and husband Michael, children Traves Weatherford, Reba Weatherford, Kim Bowling, Micki Wyatt and grandchildren Carson, Cade, Cale, Brandon, Meghan, Alli, Wyatt, and Lillieanna, several great-grandchildren, and many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Chris was born July 22nd 1958 in Eau Gallie FL and grew up at the height of the Titan Missile Program. He was a self-taught mechanic and had an early love of auto racing. Chris and his E7, were this year's winner of the Louisanna State Championship at Boothill Speedway where he was both a loved and hated member of the local racing community. For many years, Chris owned and operated an oil field trucking business. He was a devoted Catholic, an avid Florida State Seminoles fan, and was fiercely loving and loyal to his family and friends. He loved fishing, playing with his grandchildren, reading, and giving and receiving cards.
He will be greatly missed by so many who loved him dearly.
Visitation will be at Rader's in Longview on Friday, November 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Longview Tx at 1:00pm.
