James Thomas Parks
Funeral services for James Thomas Parks, 73, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend David Nix officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom, TX at 2:30 p.m. He passed away Wednesday, September 17, in a Longview hospital.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Parks was born March 11, 1935 in Paris, TX to Thomas Ato and Willie Parks and grew up there. He served in the U. S. Army and then began his career in law enforcement with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Later, he served with the Longview Police Department. In January of 1989 he was elected to the office of Gregg County Constable, Precinct 2 and retired in December of 2000. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eola Ann Parks; and his brother, Theron Parks.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Brett Thomas Parks and wife Hannah of Gilmer and Brian Hamilton Parks of Longview; and his brother, Donald Parks of Blossom.
