James Patrick "Pat" Simpler, Jr.
Memorial services for James Patrick "Pat" Simpler, Jr., 64, of Avinger will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Pruitt Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 8959 Hwy. 155 N. Avinger, with Reverend Erwin Gould officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. He passed away Sunday, July 10, in a Dallas hospital.
Pat was born April 21, 1947 in Montgomery, AL to James P. Simpler, Sr. and Hollie Simpler. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp and attended the Avinger Methodist Church. He attended Texas A & M University, Stephen F. Austin University and LSU. He formerly worked for the U. S. Census Bureau in Tyler and was a welding instructor at the Bastrop Correctional Facility in Bastrop, College Station I.S.D., and the Bastrop I.S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Casey Andrew Simpler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie Simpler of Avinger; son Joshua David Simpler of Avinger; sister, Ellen Miller of Ocean Springs, MS; and 1 grandchild.
