James M. Harper, Jr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for James M. Harper, Jr., 79, of Longview will be 12 Noon Saturday, August 23, 2003, at the Calvary Christian Tabernacle with Reverend A. D. Spears officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pisgah
Cemetery in Pine Mills, Wood County, TX. under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mr. Harper was born April 7, 1924 in Pine Mills, TX to James and Oma
Harper. He passed away Wednesday evening at his residence after a short battle with Mesothelioma.
Mr. Harper served his country in the US Army Air Corp from 1942-1945 with the rank of Corporal, retired from Texas Eastman Chemical Company as a chemical operator after 30 years of service and was a member of the Calvary Christian Tabernacle.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Ruby Harper, who died September 21, 1997. He was deeply loved and respected by his family and friends. His courage and selflessness was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Surviving family members are daughter, Cheryl Harper Laughlin;
sons, Billy Harper and Michael Harper; sisters, Mary Watson and Linda Miller; brother, Kenneth Harper and six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, from 6 until 8 PM.
