James (Jim) Robert Flanagan's Obituary
James Robert Flanagan passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, following a tragic accident. He was 85. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
James (Jim) was born on July 7, 1937, in Peoria, Illinois. His father was a manager with Letourneau, Inc. and when Letourneau opened the Longview plant in 1946, the family relocated at that time. Jim eventually joined Letourneau as an electrician following high school and the marriage to his wife Dorothy Elaine Waggoner in 1956. Over the 20 years with Letourneau he became a shop foreman and eventually a manager. Following his employment with Letourneau, Jim joined LeBus International in 1976 as the plant manager and was employed for 28 years at which time he retired in 2004.
Jim had many interests, include golf, fishing, hunting, gardening, TV westerns and best of all ‘puttering’ around the house working on various projects. One of his best personality traits was his unique brand of humor. He simply seems to make everyone around him like him. He was loved by many. Not only his family but the people he worked with professionally over the years.
He is survived by his three sons, James Jr (Lisa), Steven, and Richard (Krista). Ten grandchildren, Lindsey Flanagan, Taylor Flanagan, Hunter Hamilton, Cooper Boyd, Matthew Flanagan, Jamie Flanagan, Kelli Flanagan, Nathan Flanagan, William Degan and Jennifer Stringfellow. He also had four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Patsy and brother Bobby.
