James Jay Lewis Dunn, III's Obituary
Dr. James "Jay" Lewis Dunn III, born June 3rd 1948 in Houston Texas, aged 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep early in the morning of Sunday, October, 14th, 2012.
Jay grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and graduated from his beloved Texas A&M University as a member of the Class of 1970, with a BS in Zoology. He then went on to complete a Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Baylor Medical School, followed by military service in the U.S. Army as a dentist. After his time in the Army, he and his wife Diane Gay Dunn moved to Longview, Texas, where he raised his family and had a successful dental practice.
Jay was active in the community as a member of many organizations and causes. He worked to further education, scouting, the arts, and conscious conservatorship of our environment and wildlife. He and his spouse were youth ministers at First Presbyterian Church of Longview, where Jay mentored the youth of the church with great humor, spirituality, and most of all a lively and vibrant faith in God the Father. As a loving husband, father, son, and friend to many, he will be remembered as a man with both zeal for life and a passion for learning by all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father James "Jimmy" Dunn, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Gay Dunn, his son James "Jed" Dunn IV and his wife Lorel, his lovely daughter Jana L. Burkart and her husband Nick, his mother Barbara V. Dunn, and his sister, Jeana Jett and her husband John. He is also mourned by his large extended family, as well as many friends, collogues, and patients.
