James Eric Landry
James Eric Landry was born on May 10, 1934 in LeRoy, Louisiana. Eric passed away February 8, 2011 due to an extended illness of Parkinson's disease. Eric was from Abbeville, Louisiana and graduated with a Masters Degree in Chemistry from LSU Baton Rouge, La. Eric married his high school sweetheart Lois Sonnier December 18, 1954 at Saint Johns Cathedral in Lafayette, La. Eric accepted a job as a chemist for Texas Eastman Chemical Company in Longview in 1958 and retired in 1996 as the Supervisor of the Analytical Laboratory. Eric was known for his witty personality and was often referred to as "good time Eric" from his friends and co-workers. During many of his lunch breaks Eric could be found on the plants golf course perfecting his golf swing. He won many awards over the years in golf, archery and church organizations. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a past Grand Knight, past Faithful Navigator and former Diocesan Deputy. He was awarded Knight of the Year and was honored to be a 50 year plus member of the Knights of Columbus. Eric and Lois were also awarded Family of the Year twice by the council and celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2004 with friends and family. Eric was preceded in death by his father Isaac Landry, mother Monique Landry Duhon, son Troy Anthony Landry and his beloved wife Lois Marie Sonnier Landry who recently went to be with our lord October 20, 2010. Eric is survived by his sisters Vernic Landry Andrus of Crowley, La, Alwidia Landry Babineaux of Lafayette, La, his daughter Cammie Landry Hadley, son-in-law William D. Hadley, Jr, and his angelic granddaughter Lacie Camille Hadley, his miracle grandbaby born Oct October 23, 2009. Eric and Lois touched many hearts over the years and will be greatly missed. Ecclesiastes: Ch 3 vs. 4: A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. Mom and Dad may you continue to dance throughout eternity in the presence of our lord. I love you both so much. Until we meet again.
Eric will be having visitation under the direction of Rader Funeral Home on Friday February 11th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. with mass at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday February 12th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary Catholic School in Longview, 405 Hollybrook, Longview, TX 75605.
