I visited Jackie and Charlie when Grammie Helen was still alive in Hutchinson, KS in September of 1997. I really enjoyed the visit and have fond memories of my stay.

Jackie was and always will be a bonafide "tour de force", a true force of nature-the boundless energy I remember as a kid that she weildedsp over her brood on trips accross the country was astounding to witness..and to listen to-CHARLIE!!!!will forever ring in my ears and I am so glad for that I got to live and grow up with the "original" of that dynamo and so I can relate to its source in a special way. I remember "the Wadsworth years" and the busride back to Cortland with your "grammy Helen" my "Mellie" with that puppy in my purse to the surprise and consternation of all back home. But it had been a visit to my cousins who were actually the closest thing to siblings for me. when I was around 17? I was whining about how hard it is to be faced with decisions and to make them and I hated it-she shot back at me basically to "pull up my socks and get a grip on the fact that thats how it is and I better get used to it-it was like an arrow through my soul and I hated it-honest to God, I was listening to my son on the phone the other day who was whining about how he hates to be confronted with decisions and I shared with him that story...and when I got off the phone I rec'd the call from Linda telling me she was so ill. She will always be in my soul and I love it...and so I will pull up my socks ...even when it hurts ...... On Mark Twains gravestone is carved the following in elmira, ny Death is that starlit strip between companionship and reunion-somehow she doesnt seem that faraway afterall. In Memory of Jackie Markee
I remember Jackie as one of our good neighbors for many years, and especially when the Markees', Fentons', Fauls', and Kowitzs' all were next door neighbors. This group of neighbors were just like a family, whom were always will to lend a helping hand to each other.
I remember when "Candy" the family dog became a household member of the Markees', and how carefully Jackie would watch over her, just as if she was one of her own children.
I can remember our visits to Jackie at the hospital and rest home, and how we were always able to get her to smile, no matter how poorly she felt at the time. Her only concern has always been about her family members.
We shall miss Jackie very much, but will never forget her. At times, we wish we could turn back the clock and remember the "Good Ole Days", but as this is not possible, we can always do this in our memories.
May God Bless you and your family, as we all hope to reunite with you at some future time.

In Memory of Jackie Markee
I can remember some 30 years ago when we moved to Westminster Street shortly after you did.
As I look back in time, one of the things I remember was when Bryan would come to stay with you, and how he and Heather loved to play. Once we took them to Clown Town at 17th & Hendricks, and how they loved to go on the rides together.
Jackie, I remember when your mother needed you, and you brought her here to Hutchinson and cared for her. I never heard you complain, as you cared for her until she was called home.
You loved your children and grandchildren, often baking banana bread and other things, which you sent them in various care packages. It seemed as much of a joy to you, as I am sure it was for them to receive.
As I stand at my kitchen window, I look across the street and you are truly missed, but I also know that you are in a much better place.
Our prayers are with you and all of your family. You will never be forgotten!

I was so sorry to hear about your mother. I know I haven't seen her or any of you since I was a kid, but I have many fond memories of when you all used to visit Calais and St. Stephen. My daugheter Laurie actually saw her a couple of years ago when Grammie Helen was still alive, so I had some up-to-date news. Linda - I lost your email address somewhere along the way, but have it again now. I will try to keep in touch a little better.
Anyway - my prayers are with all of you. Give my love to your Dad.
