J.W. Garrett
LONGVIEW—J.W. Garrett, 78 of Longview, Texas went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 30, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. On Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at New Beginnings Baptist Church, 600 George Richey Road, Longview, Texas. He was born in Tarrant County, Texas on September 10, 1932.
J.W. Was preceded in death by his parents, Vester and Nora Garrett; and his two sisters, Opal Ethridge and Letha Calvey.
He is survived by Betty Garrett, his beloved wife and best friend of 57 years; his son Danny Garrett and his wife, Debbie; his daughter, Dana Smith and her husband, Stacey, his four grandchildren, Brett and Allison Garrett and Brianne and Collin Brousseau; his brother, Kenneth Garrett and his wife, Wanda; and his sister-in-law, Maxine Dingmore and her children and spouses, Lori and Bobby Britt, Lindsey and Susan Dingmore and Jerry and Jana Dingmore. J.W. Was blessed with many other family and friends who loved him dearly as well.
J.W. Graduated from Grapevine High School, where he was named "Most Handsome". He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After 31 years of dedicated service to the Federal Aviation Administration, he retired and continued to run his company, Garrett Air Conditioning. J.W. Enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, the outdoors, sports and feeding the deer in his backyard.
All who knew J.W. Will miss his gentle and giving spirit and his unending service to the Lord.
