Services for Ira A. Ousley, 78, of Longview will be held at ten a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Hampton officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Denton, Texas. Mr. Ousley passed away in Longview, January 3, 2010.Mr. Ousley was born to Reverend Jacob and Mary Ousley in Tutwiler, MS. He graduated from Mississippi State University and later completed graduate studies in the school of banking at L.S.U. He retired from banking in Tutwiler, MS. and Tatum, TX. Ira served on the Tutwiler city council for many years. He was a long-time officer and member of the Lions' Club. Ira never met a stranger and was a kind and considerate gentleman. He loved his family with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Betty Wolfe Ousley; his parents and his sister Eva Nell Spinosa; his darling granddaughter Ellen and grandson Austin. He survived by his wife Lywane Davis Ousley of Longview, TX; her son Kelly Davis and his wife Darlene of Gladewater, TX; his sons Lt. Col. William Ousley of Caledonia, MS, Robert Ousley and his wife Carrie of Houston, TX., Bruce Ousley and his wife Camille of Highland Village, TX.; seven grandchildren and five step grandchildren.Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Missions Fund at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore, P.O. Box 1170, Kilgore, Texas 75663.
