Herschel L. Lumbley's Obituary
Herschel Lumbley passed from this life into Everlasting Life on October 27, 2005 at the age of 68. Herschel was married for 45 years to the love of his life, Cecelia Ann Pilant Lumbley. Herschel?s loved ones included a sister, Marge Cherry and her husband Ed Cherry of Mansfield, 2 sons, Jon Lumbley and his wife Sheryl Lumbley of Red Oak, and Lee Lumbley of New York City, one niece, Marti Diaz and her husband Fred Diaz of Grand Prairie; nephews, Larry Hodgson of Arlington, TX, Stephen Pilant and wife, Kecia of Wylie, TX; niece, Jill Wood and husband, Mark of Sherman, TX; 2 grandchildren, Jon Christopher J.C. Lumbley and Kristen Lumbley of Red Oak and numerous cousins in Longview and Hooks.
Herschel grew up in Hooks, Texas, where he still has many friends. He graduated from Baylor University and married his sweetheart Cecelia. They lived in Waco and Pasadena, Texas, before moving to Longview. Herschel was a member of First Baptist Church of Longview, retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 30 years of service, Secretary /Treasurer of the Sons of the American Revolution, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and past president of the PTA at his kids? school.
The funeral for the loving husband, devoted friend, and ?pappa? to his grandchildren will be Saturday, October 29 at 2:00pm at Rader Funeral Home with graveside services following in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Family and friends will have an open visitation time at Rader Funeral Home Friday, October 28 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Cecelia has requested that donations be made in his memory to the American Heart Association or First Baptist Church of Longview.
