Henry Allen McCord, Sr.
Funeral services for Henry Allen McCord, Sr., 84, a devoted husband and father, of Lake Cherokee will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, December 18, 2010 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverend Ronnie Stribble officiating. Burial will follow in Stewart Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Rusk County. Henry went to be with his Lord and Savior after a short hard fought battle with cancer on December 16.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. McCord was born July 12, 1926, in Velma, OK and moved to Texas at an early age. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He later married the love of his life, Mildred Burgess McCord in June 1946. He retired from Swift Meat Company in 1980, and enjoyed his family, cooking, fishing, yard work and golfing. He was totally devoted to his family and always wanted them around him. He will be missed by all who knew him. We were so blessed to have had him in our lives. Glory be to God for all of his blessings he continues to give us each day.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Justice McCord and Zula Mae Dickerson McCord and brothers, Ray and Childress McCord.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred Ruth Burgess McCord; a son, Henry Allen McCord, Jr. of Lake Cherokee; a daughter, Brenda Wyche and husband Reagan of LaPorte, TX; grandchildren, Crystal Lynn Oliver of New Diana, Christopher Douglas Wyche and wife Monica of Overland Park, KS, Jack Allen McCord of Lake Cherokee, Jeffrey Allen Wyche and Curtis Wayne Wyche of LaPorte, TX; great grandchildren, Kiera Oliver of New Diana, Baylee Morrell and Kylee Wyche of Overland Park, Ks; and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all of the people at Good Shepherd Medical Center, A400 Oncology Staff, Longview Cancer Center and Beacon Hospice at Margaret?s House for all their love, kindness and support throughout the last few months of our beloved father?s life on earth.
