Helen Little's Obituary
Memorial services for Gladys Helen May Little, 82, will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2 PM with the Reverend Kevin Wittmayer officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home.
Mrs. Little was born April 8, 1931, in Kingsland, Arkansas, to the late Violet Celeste Clemons May and Claude Preston May. She grew up in Des Arc, Arkansas, eventually moving to Little Rock where she attended the Business School branch of the University of Arkansas. She met her late husband, Dr. Earle Little in Little Rock. They were married in 1953. Mrs. Little followed her husband as his military duties took him to San Antonio, Texas, as well as San Francisco, California.
Dr. and Mrs. Little settled in Longview in 1960 where they raised their three children. Mrs. Little was very actively involved in civic causes as well as her beloved church. Among her many activities were the Trinity Episcopal Altar Guild, the Gregg County Medical Auxiliary, the Junior League, Steering Committee for Gold Rush (fundraiser for Good Shepherd Medical Center), Civic Music, Camp Fire Leader, the Gregg County Memorial Museum, Meals on Wheels, and support for Highway 80 Mission. Mrs. Little was an avid supporter of our U.S. military often putting together care packages for our overseas troops.
Mrs. Little’s passion for cooking was something she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends. She cherished her six grandchildren, and they were her biggest pride and joy. Her unique sense of humor and quick wit will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Little is survived by her three children and their spouses: Mark Allison Little and wife Susan Ann of Longview, Valerie Helen Stocker and her husband Charles William, III, of Fort Worth and Laura Yvette McLeod and husband William Bruce of Plano; 6 grandchildren, Alison Celeste and Jennifer Ann Little, Laura Elizabeth and Leah Walsh Korte, Andrew Hunter and William Earle McLeod.
The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM on Friday, January 24, 2014 in the Fellowship Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church.
Special thanks to Mitch Meek, whose love and support cannot be measured in words; Dr. Larry Frase, whose compassion and commitment to his profession is second to none; and HeartsWay Hospice whose services are a godsend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, Highway 80 Mission, HeartsWay Hospice or to your favorite charity.
