I knew HP in Lubbock through our both working in the lab at Southwest Medical Clinic for Drs. Frank Goodwin & Millard Carnrick 1962-64. Like others said, I enjoyed HP's dry, wry sense of humor, and envied him for that red MGA sports car! I thought about that in 1968, when I got a red Triumph TR4A, my first "interesting" car. I am writing this so many years after HP's passing because tonight Mr. Google led me to this site. I am deeply gratified that HP realized his dream and became a pathologist. As a late-life Type 1 diabetic, I am glad to see that HP lived a full and rich life personally and professionally despite diabetes.

H.P. and I grew up together in Lubbock and were high school and college friends. He was always tough competition as a pre-med student. His keen, yet dry, sense of humor was appreciated by all. H.P. is the only medical student in the annals of history who was clever enough to write all of his weekly letters to his parents for the first year of med school the summer BEFORE he headed for Dallas to start Southwestern. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today. I started working as a medical transcriptionist for Dr. Rankin and Dr. Clifton January,1977. They were great bosses and I felt privileged to work at the Medical and Pathology Laboratory.

I remember lots of happy times....
Dr. Cliftons sense of humor and hafta mention him driving around in that beautiful silver Corvette of his.

Such a kind and thoughtful person, H.P. was a true southern gentleman. His smile made me feel like he had a little secret to tell..what a wonderful sense of humor he had! He will always be my very favorite pathologist!
