Gonzalo "Mr. G" Hernandez Jr.'s Obituary
Gonzalo Hernandez, Jr., (Mr. G), age 80, of Longview, passed away February 28, 2021. He was born April 22, 1940 in Austin, TX to Gonzalo and Maggie Hernandez. Growing up in Austin, Mr. G attended local schools.
In 1963 he was drafted into the US Army and serviced his country in the Viet Nam War. After he was honorably discharged from the US Army he moved to Dallas, Texas. It was there he met Connie Montemayor and later they were married on December 21, 1968.
In the late 70’s they moved to Longview to open Gonzalo’s Mexican Restaurant and for the next 40 years had a successful business in the community.
Those left to cherish his memory his loving wife of 53 years Connie Hernandez, 2 sons Alex and his wife Mary and Eddy, 4 grandchildren Andrea, Marcus, Mateo and Esai. Also, he leaves behind 2 sisters Eva and Mary, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Gonzalo’s parents, 1 sister and 4 brothers precede him in passing.
Friends are welcome to greet the family for a time of viewing Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from noon – 8pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Private services by invitation only will take place at a later date.
