Gonzalo’s was by far our favorite restaurant in Longview! We first ate there when it was located on Spur 63, but the location on the Loop was our weekly (sometimes more often) go-to restaurant for our family. We loved the food, but far more than that, we loved Gonzalo and Connie! After our relocation to Kingsport, we would sometimes receive a care package of pralines in the mail from Gonzalo! Our family has so many special memories of Gonzalo and Connie! We love you, Connie, and are so sad to learn of Gonzalo’s passing. He was the best!!!!

Gonzalo always greeted his customers with a sincere smile and a warm welcome. No other hot sauce compares to his. Many familiar faces dined in his restaurant. It was always a fun fellowship time with friends. Heaven is a sweeter place with this dear man. We will miss him!

Gonzalo was a special man. He not only served the very best Austin style Mexican food,
he loved his customers, most of whom became his friends. He just loved people, and the
wall of fame in the restaurant proves how all the people loved him back. We were
proud to include our family on that wall as well. When he closed the restaurant, we were
sad that we would miss seeing him, because after almost 40 years of knowing him, it is
the same as family. Connie, Alex and Eddie, our prayers are with you and your family.

My husband and I began eating at Gonzalo’s when we were dating. I was just a teenager. We were regulars there for many years, getting married, having and raising children, right up until he closed the restaurant, which was a sad day for our family. It was the first restaurant my children ever visited. We went there for may birthdays and anniversaries over the years. I know we ate gallons of hot sauce and especially queso over those 30 plus years. When my daughter was little she called him Lalo, because she couldn’t say Gonzalo, then he became Mr. G. We have missed him since the restaurant closed and are very sad to know we won’t see him again. So sorry for your loss. Kevin, Karen, & Kaden McAlister and Kendall McCuistion.

Dear Connie,
Our family is so sorry for your loss. We love your family and miss the restaurant. Gonzalo's smile and hug will never be forgotten. And the kids will always remember where the candy came from. I am so glad they got to go to the restaurant like me and my sister did at their age. The photos and Christmas cards on the walls of the restaurant are proof of how loved you and your family are by so many. : )
