Graveside services for Gertrude Waggoner, a longtime resident of Longview, Texas, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2006 in Clifton Cemetery, Clifton, Texas.
Mrs. Waggoner died Thursday, August 10, 2006 in Summer Meadows Nursing Home in Longview, where she had been a resident for the past 13 years. She was 92 at the time of her death. Rader Funeral Home in Longview is in charge of arrangements. Coby Allen, husband of granddaughter Sally, will officiate.
Mrs. Waggoner was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on December 23, 1914. She married William Toby Waggoner on July 4, 1938. She was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church where she had been a women?s Sunday School teacher for many years. Mrs. Waggoner taught first grade in the public schools for 31 years, mostly in the panhandle of Texas and central Texas.
Mrs. Waggoner was preceded in death by her husband in 1970, her beloved daughter, Beth Ann Grace, in 2003, and 7 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Waggoner is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William Duke and Nancy Waggoner of Palestine, Texas; son-in-law, Bob Grace of Longview, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Hardin of Mount Pleasant, Texas; brother, Lowell Hoggins of Cleburne, Texas; 6 grandchildren; Phil and Angie Grace of Hallsville, Texas; Debbie and Kyle Jones of Emory, Texas; Bill and Kristan Waggoner of Austin, Texas; Gaby and Jim Yates of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Sally and Coby Allen of Frisco, Texas; Jake Edwards of Dallas, Texas; and 6 great-grandchildren.
