Gerald B. Reese's Obituary
Gerald B. Reese, born, June 10, 1939 to Leonard and Pearl Reese in Texarkana, Arkansas, departed this earth on his flight to heaven on Friday, April 29, 2005. Gerald was an employee at Stroh Brewery for over 32 years. He was a past member of the
Stroh and Hawg Hunters Bass Clubs as well as a member of Greater Longview Bowling Association. He coached in the Longview Boys Baseball Association for 27 years, was an avid golfer and enjoyed many hours playing golf with his sons. Mr. Reese was also past owner of the AA Sign and Neon Company.
Services will be Monday, May 2, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Rader Funeral Home in Longview with burial in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Family visitation will be Sunday, May 1, 2005 from 4:00 ?6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Reese was preceded in death by his father, J. L. Reese as well as a son, Darren Reese.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 32 years, Nola Pitts Reese of Longview; Mother, Pearl Reese of Longview; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Berry of Aledo, Texas; his children and their spouses, daughter and son-in-law, Denise Reese Ahlstedt and Ed Ahlstedt of El Dorado, Kansas; son, Bruce Reese of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Robin Reese of Longview; and Billy and Erin Reese of Weatherford, Texas. Granddaughters; Atoya Reese of Longview and Kristal Newport of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandsons, Tony Ahlstedt of Wichita, KS, Andy Ahlstedt and Brandon Finley of El Dorado, Kansas, Adam Ahlstedt of Jacksonville, FL, Bryan Reese of Wichita, KS and Garrett Reese of Weatherford, TX.; two great grandsons, Austin and Ethan Ahlstedt of Wichita, KS; In-laws, Melvin and Della Pitts of White Oak, Jimmy and Virginia Pitts of Longview and Paul and Sue Pitts of Fritch, TX, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Casket Bearers will be Jeremy Miller, Marc Rider, Steven Pitts, and Mackey Pitts, nephews; Matthew Pitts, Great nephews; Stacy Waits, David Reid and Tom DuBose.
Nephew, Randy Pitts will officiate the services with Melvin B. Pitts as Eulogist.
The family is forever grateful to Drs. John Greifenkamp, Ronald Scott and Richard Hamer for their professional and compassionate care for many years. Our thanks also to Drs. Jenkins and Mark Witt in the past several weeks. The family would also like to thank all of the many caregivers and friends who have cared for and been with Mr. Reese during this long and sometimes difficult journey.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association or to the Longview Boy?s Baseball Association.
