George D. Gold
George D. Gold was born September 8, 1920 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to George D. Gold Sr. and Wilda L. Gold.
From a very early age he had an exceptional mechanical ability and entrepreneurial spirit. He and his brother Bob Gold built and operated Bowling Alleys and Roller Skating Rinks in Texas. They always did their best to provide affordable family recreation. He retired at age 54 and spent the latter years living in Hallsville with his wife of 63 years Carolyn. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hallsville.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Gosschalk and husband Joost of San Antonio, TX.; sons, Mike Gold of Longview, Mark Gold and wife Holli of Hallsville, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nelson and Edwina Cowles, grandchildren, Kari Williams and husband Dr. Joey Williams of San Antonio, TX; Jonas Gosschalk of California, Lance Gold of Austin, TX; Emily and Madison Gold of Hallsville, great-grandchildren, Jared and Colby Williams of San Antonio, TX.
Graveside services will be held at !2 Noon Saturday April 25, 2009 at the Hallsville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home. Mr. Gold passed away Wednesday April 22, 2009 in Longview.
