Garvin L. Murray's Obituary
Garvin Leroy Murray, 92, was born on July 22, 1919 in Bismark, ND to Pauline "Polly" and Charles Paul Murray. He passed away on February 4, 2012. Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Rev. James Henderson and J.T. Hogue officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park in Longview. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Murray proudly served in the US Army as Master Sgt., 529th Field Artillery serving in France and Germany during WWII from 1944-1946.
Garvin worked as Area Manager in a trucking business. He was Billings, MT Transportation Club President, and was on the Board of Directors of the National Tank Truck Carriers of Washington, DC. He flew the company plane in his job. Garvin, a Baptist, was an honest, kind, and humorous man, a loving father, grandfather, and devoted husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Wayne and sister-in-law Doris.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Daisy; daughter Cheryl Ann Stenn and husband Richard; daughter Gwynn "Niko" Wojczuk and husband Michael; daughter Gina Preston; sons Dr. Garvin Murray and wife Barbara, Larry Preston and wife Cathy, and Robert Preston and wife Stephanie; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; he is also survived by his special niece and nephew Eileen and Greg Minter; and his "puppy" Maija.
