"If it isn't right, the concrete doesn't get poured." This is not a joke for I was there at PE 3 when I in my one wheeled company truck contained chipping guns and bits, boxes of wire brushes, brooms with handles cut off, a wet dry vacuum cleaner, and anything else I had to use to make it right so Freddie would sign the pour ticket. There was never to be rust or mud on the rebar, seal slab had to roughned up so concerete would stick, no sunflower seeds or cigarette butts for it had to be clean. I crawled in between the rebar matts picking up rodbuster tie wire clippings, dirt clods, and anything else we thought Freddie would not like. I had a system down from the minute we laid the first Symon form down to the last field engineer check to get the pour in shape before Freddie would show up.
Now years later, I have seen concrete pours that would make Freddie cringe and I have always past on the sense of quality that Freddie wanted if his name was on the pour ticket.
Freddie walked with a slight limp. He always told me how it happened that the first blast just knocked him down. He got up and ran toward the North Gate when the second blast picked him up and threw him 50 plus feet. His mantra to me was "just laydown for the blast will go over you, if you stand up it will throw you." I have been in and out of refineries and petrochemical plants and I keep that information with me everyday.
I will never forget you Freddie for showing me what a concrete pour is meant to look like and the quality of craftsmanship you wanted for Texas Eastman.
Thank You and Rest In Peace,

Dear Donnie and family: Our sincere prayers go out to you and your family at this time. Your dad will be greatly missed my many family members as well as many Eastman folks. Keep Jesus in your hearts as He's the only means to have 'peace within' thru the acceptance of His salvation (Rom 10:9-13, John 3:3, John 6:44, John 3:16, Rev 1:5). Praise the Lord and to God be the Glory forever,
In His precious and Holy Name, with sincere, deepest sympathy,
