Frankie Alice Thornbrugh Burks began her eternal celebration in the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, October 5, 2005. Frankie was born September 15, 1928, in Cisco, TX, and was a 50 year resident of Longview, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 8, 2005 at Valley View Baptist Church, 1602 Alpine St., Longview, TX, with the Rev. Kenneth Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore City Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Friday evening, October 7, 2005 at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, Longview, TX.
Frankie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Laughton Dean ?L. D.? Burks, her brother Bill Thornbrugh, and her sisters Elloise Rosenburg and Jackie Thrailkill. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Dave Sammons of Burleson, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Wendy Burks of Longview, TX; and five grandchildren, Charity Sammons, Mindy Sammons, Nicole Burks, Brinson Burks, and Colton Morace.
Frankie attended Kilgore High School and Kilgore College where she was an honor student and involved in both schools as a cheerleader. She was the Owner and Manager of American Handicrafts for 10 years and later became an Associate Manager for Service Merchandise. She was an active member of Valley View Baptist Church where she faithfully taught second grade Sunday School for 26 years. She had the God given gift of hospitality and was known as a loving mother and friend. Frankie never met anyone she didn?t love and no one could resist loving her.
The family would request that any memorials be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, 3613 S. Broadway, Tyler, Texas 75701.
