Eva Harriss
Graveside services for Eva Harriss, 78, of Longview, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 at Rosewood Park with the Reverend Dewayne Beaty officiating under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. She passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 in a Longview hospital.
Mrs. Harriss was born June 29, 1926 in De Soto, MO., and had been a resident of Longview since 1940, moving from Marshall. In 1944, she graduated from Longview High School, and attended Baylor University. After 30 years service, she retired from Cherco Compressor Co. as a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Harriss was an accomplished organist, and was the former organist for several churches in the Longview area, including the First United Methodist Church, Hallsville, Founders Christian Church, Winterfield United Methodist Church, and the Christian Science Church, and was a former active member of the Pilot Club. Also, she was a volunteer at Good Shepherd Medical Center with over 4500 hours service. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1940.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Amy Harriss of Longview; daughter, Nancy Harriss of Kilgore; grandsons, Lane and David Harriss of Longview; cousins, Leona Hancock and Brenda Sutterfield of Tulsa, OK.; and several other relatives in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
