Erwin Frederic Stoldt's Obituary
10/16/1941~3/30/2017. Dad passed away in a local nursing home on Thursday, March 30th, 2017. He bravely battled the effects of Parkinson’s for a few years, but it won…far too quickly. Mom passed away in January of 2015, his only sister about a week later. He never really had much fight left in him after they both died.
Mom and dad lived an exceptional yet modest life. His career as an engineer took him to many corners of the world for an accumulated total of several years. His engineering, mathematical, and drafting skills were world class, along with his beautiful penmanship. As a result, he was involved in the design and manufacture of some of the largest mining and earth moving equipment on the planet. He worked for Bucyrus Erie, Utah International, Esso (Exxon international), and finished up with 30 years at Letourneau. Dad worked 6 to 7 days a week until he was forced to retire due to the Parkinson’s disease.
A very generous and unselfish man with his time and money, he donated much of both to his church, Our Redeemer Lutheran. He was also well known at many local restaurants and had the reputation of being an excellent tipper.
Not perfect, a man with flaws, but his generosity, strength, of character, loyalty, work ethic, and love of family made him in my eyes the best man I’ve ever known. Erwin will be missed by many.
Rest now, and enjoy your retirement in heaven, say hi to mom and everyone else for us.
Special thanks to Jeanette Conyers for always being there no matter the need. To Dad’s friend Stan Waldow for all the times you took him to church and out to eat afterward, that meant so very much to him. And Jade, your help in the last months was very special, you became part of the family.
Please do not send flowers, instead make a donation to any organization that researches diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
