Ernest ?Rip? Glenn Van Winkle
Ernest ?Rip? Glenn Van Winkle was born in Patrick, Texas on January 3, 1934 to ?Ernest C. Van Winkle and Pauline Jarrett. He graduated from Wilmer Hutchins High School.
For 40 years, Glenn owned and ran convenience stores. He was a security guard during the school years and worked maintenance in the summer at Hallsville ISD until 1997.
He was called home to the Lord on September 12, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna Nell Van Winkle; sisters, Patsy Monk and Paulette and Larry Uretta; 3 sons, Ronnie Van Winkle and wife, Kathi, Robert Hughes and wife, Lil and Charlie Van Winkle and wife, Theresa; and 1 daughter, Elaine Johnson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Hasselback. He had 8 grandchildren, Jeremi, Ashli, Chelsie, Donna, Amber, Melissa, Charlotte and Lucas, and 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, September 14, 2011 from 6 until 8 PM at Rader Funeral Home on Longview.
A celebration of his life will be at 12 Noon, Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Lewis Thompson and Bryant De Berd officiating. Graveside services will be at Noonday Cemetery in Hallsville, Texas following the service.
