Ernest Wade Dozier's Obituary
Ernest Wade Dozier, 74, died Monday, November 12, 2018 at his home following an extended illness. He was surrounded by family and friends.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Phyllis (Rogers) Dozier; his son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Cathy Dozier; his son and daughter-in-law, Martin and April Dozier; 5 grandchildren; and many close friends.
He was born on December 5, 1943 in Gladewater, Texas, the son of E.A. “Toad” and Lucille Dozier. After graduating from Union Grove High School, he served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Military Police Corps. Upon completion of his military service, he began his professional career in public service as a police officer. While working as a police officer, he attended the University of Texas at Tyler obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. During his professional career, he was employed by Gladewater and Longview Police Departments, achieving Deputy Chief of Police with Longview Police Department. He retired from public service in 2005 from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Johnston Unit in Winnsboro, Texas.
He had a great passion for hunting and enjoyed spending time with family at his ranch in South Texas. His great sense of humor and an infectious smile will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 17, 2018. The visitation and service will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 4715 Tenneryville Road, Longview, Texas.
