Emma Jean Stuber's Obituary
Today, Emma Stuber's Family consider it a privilege to celebrate the "beginning" of her new life in Heaven. She took the hand of Jesus and started her journey home.
Emma Jean Weseman Stuber was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on February 24, 1930. She passed away after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.
Her childhood was spent in Oklahoma, Gladewater and Carthage, Texas, moving to Longview in 1957. Emma believed in serving others and she did so by being joyfully active in church ministries, teaching children and adult Sunday School, being a counselor at church summer camps, volunteering for LIHN and serving Meals on Wheels. One ministry special to her heart is Mission Aviation Fellowship which flies missions all over the world helping missionaries reach unreachable people who have not heard of Jesus Christ. Emma owned and operated E J’s Maternity and Children's Shop from 1967 then moving as E J's in The Village into the early 1990's, touching the lives of many young families.
Her greatest joy was serving her Lord and His church through regular attendance and mission services. She was a cherished member of the Gleaners Sunday School class. In later years she and John were not able to attend regularly as they had in the past. As a result, they considered themselves Prayer Warriors.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, John Worl Stuber of Longview; her daughters Melony Hodges Woodard (Don) of Austin; Holly Hodges Odom (Michael) of Austin; Leslie Borski (Donald) of Bryan; Kirsten Stuber of Tyler; and son Jon Stuber of Monmouth, Oregon; grandchildren Jerad Craig (Audrey) of Austin; Maegan Woodard of Denton; Bryan Brown of Dallas; Greg Brown of Ft Worth; Jessica and Daniel Owens, Joshua and Janayle Borski, all of Bryan; and Nicholas Borski of Concrete, Washington; and great-grandchildren Vivienne and Hazel of Austin; Oliver, London, and Ellington of Bryan.
The Stuber family would like to express their gratitude to The Hospice of East Texas and HomePlace of Tyler, and their special nurses Teresa and Stephanie. A very special thank you to Emma's friend and angel, Mary Shank, for her loving devotion. In addition, her family would like to thank Dr. James Sawyer and his PA Kim Wyatt for their care during her illness.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 29th at 10am at First Baptist Longview Atrium. Memorial Services to follow at 11am at Ford Chapel.
Memorials can be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship, P.O. Box 47, Nampa, ID 83653; The Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701; and First Baptist Church Mission Fund, 209 East South St., Longview, TX 75061.
