Mimi and I express our deepest sympathy to you in the loss of Emma! What a nice lady....and after a short visit you always came away feeling better! When I was a child at FIrst Christian Church, she was always so involved with us kids....Sunday School, VBS, or whatever activities required her assistance with the youth. She was joyful and a true Christian friend to many.
Plus.....she kept my young sons well dressed for many years at EJ's! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Melony, Holly and family,

I was so sorry to hear of Emma's passing in a call from Nora Gene. She and I continued our friendship over the years with Christmas cards and letters. We enjoyed sharing updates on our families. I always admired EJ and the way she conducted her business. I often thought of her when I would say or do something in my own business that I learned from working with her. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this time.

I remember lots about Emma, but my best one goes way back to 1970-72. When her store was on High St, every January she would pay Melony's close friends to come count EJ's inventory. I don't remember how much she paid us, but in my mind, it was a lot! The store would be closed and we got to work. Mel would go from friend to friend laughing and chatting. I was always worried that Emma was gonna fuss about visiting more than counting inventory. We were on the clock! She had to remind Mel and I of that once. I got back to counting quickly:)

We have such fond memories of our friendship with both the Hodges and Stuber families, growing up together. Shopping at EJ's was such a special experience due to the patience, kindness and professionalism shown by Emma Jean. She was such a lady and will be missed.
