I woke today, thinking of my sweet Aunt Faye and remembering Light family gatherings. In the truest sense of East Texas style, Faye (Light) Matthis grew up on a farm, in a very large family full of love and laughter. Her prayerful good nature, quick wit and sense of humor stayed with her throughout life, always caring for family and there for others. She was such a joy!
Faye was one of God's truest angels.She gave so unselfishly of herself at Country Place and all those who knew her loved her dearly. Faye was continually caregiving to one or more of the residents and never an unpleasant word. She will truly be remembered. My prayers and heartfelt thoughts go out to you , her family as you accept the loss of your loved one. My firend and another angle has went to be with God. Faye was one lady that I had the pleasure to come to know and love the time she was at Country Place Village. She was loved by all the staff and all the residents that came to know her. She was an Angel in all our hearts and we will miss her and her smile that I look forward to seeing when I came to work. Most espically I will miss her. May comfort each one of you at this time.

I will miss Faye. She was like a grandmother to me. I met her through my friend Chuck and she treated me like I was her grandson from the first day I met her.I Will miss cooking on holidays and seeing her bright face walking in the kitchen telling me to "go sit down and rest you don't have to make so much food!" Faye and my mother became instant friends when they met at Country Place. We?ve often commented that Mama had never had such a friend, and many have commented on their bond. Faye is such a caring spirit and touched all who knew her. She befriended my mother the first day that they met and always brought smiles and joy into her life at a time that was difficult for both of them. I only knew Faye for a short time at Country Place but know that she had many friends there who loved her very much.
