The strength of our family, Earl N. Meadows, 85, of Gilmer, known lovingly as June, now rests peacefully in God's hands.
A celebration of his life will be held at Twelve O'clock noon on Saturday May 10, 2008 with Reverend Holland Atchley officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Cemetery in Kilgore under the direciton of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Earl was born January 17, 1923, in Gregg County, and he was taken from us Thursday May 8, 2008.
Earl served his country in the Navy in both World War Two and the Korean Wa and was a survivor of the Decemebr 7th attack on Pearl Harbor. His advanced education through the Naval ROTC program included studies at Northwestern and Harvard. Earl was a valued employee for the Mobil Oil Corparation from 1946 until his retirement in 1982. His last assignment was that of Vice-President and Project Director of the TransArabian Pipeline in Saudi Arabia.
Earl is survived by his wife Ruth, sons, Bill and Doug Meadows, daughters, Shirley Butler and Suzanne Reece, son-in-law, Tommy Butler, daughter-in-law, Leslie Meadows, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law, Nell and Billy Bob Reese, sister-in-law, Wanda Meadows, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Maydelle Simmons Meadows, parents Earl and Amy Meadows of Seven Pines, and brother, Carlton Meadows.
Earl was a strong, powerful and loving man and his memory will live in our hearts forever.
