Doyle Edwin ?Ed? Flatt
One of Longview?s finest Doyle Edwin ?Ed? Flatt died January 21, 2006 after a lengthy illness.
Ed was born in Longview, Texas on July 9, 1942. He graduated from Longview High School in 1960 where he served as President of the Student Council. From his high school days, Ed was an avid golfer. In later years, he particularly enjoyed playing golf with his father and son. Ed graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1964 with a BA degree in accounting. He continued his education at UT Law School, earning a Juris Doctorate degree in 1967. After obtaining his degrees, Ed entered a select group, the Federal Bureau of InvestigationFBI. He served his country as an agent for five years, later entering into private business in New York City. He married Patti Dooley in 1972. They were blessed with two children and two grandchildren, For the past twelve years, Mr. Flatt has been associated with Maxwell Distributing and Glazer?s Wholesale Distributor?s Inc. Ed was an active member of St. Anthony?s Catholic Church.
His parents Doyle Thomas Flatt and Mary Hill Flatt, his two children, Thomas William Flatt and wife Christine, and Mary Claire Flatt Pedone and husband Joseph survive Ed. Grandchildren Shannon and Lauren Flatt held a special place in his heart. Ed also leaves behind a host of friends, including the Dooley family in New York and New Jersey and friends of Bill W.
Friends of Mr. Flatt are invited to attend the wake at Rader Funeral Home on Monday January 23, 2006 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Tuesday January 24, 2006 at 11:00 Am with Father Bruce Lincoln and Monsignor John Brennan officiating, assisted by Father Mike Maxwell. Private burial services will follow at Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Pallbearers include Archie N. Barron, Charles Kimball Flint, lll, Charles Frith, Dr. John C. Griffin, Lowell Holloway, Jr., John Temple Moore and John Thomas.
