Mrs Gray taught me Algebra and geometry. She was a great teacher. I used to ask her, "Why in the world do I have to know this stuff?" Miss Dorothy was an exceptional person. I knew her mainly through Trinity Baptist Church. She was a remarkable Christian lady who always showed kindness and calm. During college days, she was very encouraging. She had a positive effect on many young people. What a legacy she leaves behind. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. She was more than an Aunt, she was a 2nd mom to me growing up. I spent many summers with her and Bubbie and the memories I have are so special to me. All the fishing trips, shopping trips, playing cards, she would always let me win! No one could have had a better Aunt. I had her in math my senior year in high school. She was waiting to retire after she had taught the "last" grandkid. I thought I would be cut some slack since I was her "favorite" niece but oh no, she was just as tough on me as everyone else! What a wonderful teacher she was. What a wonderful role model she was. And what a very special person she was. She had a heart of gold. She always had my back. She was my "go to" gal when I was going through the many struggles of jr high and high school. She was one of the most influential people in my life. I will miss her more than words can say. Mrs. Gray taught me and my husband, Don Crim, plane geometry in 10th grade many years ago. We used to see her out eating sometimes on our visits to Henderson and Don always told her how he used her lessons in woodworking every day, measuring angles. Miss Dorothy was a true treasure to know! My children loved attending "breakfast with the ladies" every Tuesday morning and giving Miss Dorothy a hug. She always brought pictures to show off her family. She will most definitely be missed!!##imported-begin##The McGee's##imported-end##
I knew Dorothy first as my plane geometry teacher for whom I had great respect and a healthy dose of fear. Later in my high school and young adult years, she became my friend and I have so many wonderful memories of her encouraging me and always making me feel special. She had such a wonderful smile. As a senior,I had the joy of visiting New York with her and Alyce Jean on a Latin trip. She was such fun. If memory serves, the 3 of us were roomies. We've visited off and on through the years but it's been a long time. She was a very special lady and will be missed. My prayers are with all of you at this sad time. I had Mrs Gray for plane geometry in high school and I also attended Trinity Baptist Church with her.She had a lot of patience with me and I still appreciate and remember her to this day. My thoughts go with the family.

Dorothy and her family were our neighbors when I was a child. She was a role model for me--a beautiful young lady who knew the importance of education. In high school, she made plane geometry fun. Mrs. Gray was my former teacher, neighbor and friend. I have missed her since she moved to be with family. I would often cut across her yard taking my dogs for a walk. Mrs.Gray knew my schedule and more often than not she would come out for a visit. The ten or fifteen minutes we spent talking is something I have missed since her move. She was a very nice woman with a special something I can not describe. She will be missed but I know she is with her Savior.
