Dorothy Waggoner Flanagan's Obituary
Dorothy Waggoner Flanagan, 78, of Longview, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, following a long illness. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years James and her three sons, James (Lisa) Flanagan of Largo, FL, Steven Flanagan of Jackson, MS, and Richard (Krista) Flanagan of Longview, TX. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Nathan of Orlando, FL, Matthew, Jamie and Kelli of Dunedin, FL, Lindsey and Taylor of Hallsville, TX, Dr. William (Dr. Abbye) Degan of Pittsburg, PA, Jennifer Degan of Orlando, FL, Hunter Hamilton and Cooper Boyd of Hallsville. One great-granddaughter, Penelope of Dunedin, FL.
She is preceded in death by her parents Troy and Dora Waggoner of Longview, TX, brother Troy Waggoner, Jr and sister Betty Jean Gammon. She is survived by her brothers Robert Waggoner of Plano and Rodney (Linda) Waggoner of Dallas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy enjoyed her time working for the Longview News – Journal in earlier years. She will always be remembered for her sweet, loving personality and funny anecdotes. The family will tremendously miss her fabulous cooking particularly when it came to baked goods. She always was excited when the children and grandchildren would come to visit her in Longview.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Ashlie Peyton for her sincere, dedicated care during this period.
A memorial service shall be held at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Road, Longview at 2 pm, Monday, Feb. 27 and a visitation shall take place at Rader from 6-8 pm on Sunday, Feb. 26.
The family requests that donations in memory of Dorothy be made to the individual’s favorite charity.
