Dorothy Coones' Obituary
Dorothy Coones was born April 5, 1927 and went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
Mrs. Coones taught school for over forty years. She was a much beloved music teacher at Pine Tree ISD where she is credited with writing the Pine Tree Pirate Fight song.
She never tired of talking about her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchild. Mrs. Coones also never missed the opportunity to visit with friends. Her love of music led to her to play at church, civic events, or anywhere that needed her.
Mrs. Coones was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Lottie Hudgins and her much loved grandson Drew Stratton.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Roy Coones; children, Danny Coones of Longview, Bobby Coones and wife Cindy of Longview, Barbara Compton of Grapevine, and Sharon Stratton of Longview; grandchildren, Brent, Jace, Noah, Autumn, Whitney, and Lauren; and great-grandchild Lucy. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.
Friend s are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation on Friday, February 14 between 6 and 8pm at
Radar Funeral Home. There will be a private family service on Saturday, February 15 at 12 noon at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home here in Longview
