Dorothy Coones was born April 5, 1927 and went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Mrs. Coones taught school for over forty years. She was a much beloved music teacher at Pine Tree ISD where she is credited with Read Obituary

To all the Coones Family, We love you and grieve with you while at the same time, know she is beside herself as she has now been with Jesus for several days!!!! We can only imagine!!!! She will always have a special place in our hearts...including our children, Billy James and Wendy. What a privilege it was to work with her during those early days at Calvary in the 1960's ... one of the greatest pianists ever!!!!!!!!!! Some people play the piano by touching the keys with their fingers. Mrs Coones touched it with her heart. I have never before and never since seen someone so lost in the moment doing something they loved so much. She had so much passion.
Oh I was surprised to see this notice on Bobby Fletchers facebook wall. When my mother was in the hospital planning her own funeral, all she said was Dorothy Coones has to play the piano, and she did play Pentacostal Fire..she and Mama I have no doubt are singing together now. Dorothy was a very special lady. Memories of Pine Tree are entwined with Dorothy Coones. She loved children and taught them many life lessons as well as an appreciation for music. No one could play a piano as well or enjoy playing as much as Dorothy. We are so very sorry for your loss; this will surely leave a huge void.

Mrs. Coones not only taught me to sing and play the recorder, but I still remember her teaching my 4th grade class to make our beds every morning. She said that it only takes 30 seconds. I will always hold her dear in my heart. May God give you peace and comfort.
I hadn't seen Mrs. Coones for a number of years, but she was pianist at Central Baptist, and I took piano lessons from her many many years ago. She was a lovely lady, and I loved watching her play with such authority and grace! May God bless and comfort your family.

What a wonderful music teacher she was! I am saddened to hear of her passing. She touched the lives of so many students at PTISD. We will always remember the way she put so much emotion into playing the piano for our music class. What a blessing she was! My prayers go out to all of her family members.

WONDERFUL WOMAN. HAD HER IN SCHOOL IN 5TH GRADE AND ALL MY KIDS HAD HER IN SCHOOL. SHE LOVED THE KIDS AND PLAYING THE PIANO SO MUCH. JUST TALKED TO HER COUPLE YEARS AGO WHEN SHE CAME TO CHURCH I WAS GOING TO FOR A CONCERT. SHE REMEMBERED ME AND SOME OTHERS. I KNOW SHE IS PLAYING FOR THE LORD NOW. SHE WILL BE MISSED.
