Doris Bernell Sallee Richardson's Obituary
Funeral services for Bernell Richardson, 87, of Hallsville will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 7, 2008 at Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Pastor Ottis Jarrell. Interment will follow in Center Cemetery, Harleton. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs Richardson went to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 3, 2008 at a local hospital. She was born to Earl Everett Sallee and Sally Ruby Woodall Sallee on July 8, 1921 in Kingsland, Ark. She was the 2nd of ten children and is survived by her brother John Harold Sallee of Marshall and sister Wanda Sallee Gibson and brother in law Glen Gibson of Lake Palestine. Doris Bernell Sallee married James Warden Richardson on June 18, 1939 in Pine Bluff, Ark. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Larry Don Jones of Hallsville and Marilyn Annette and William Donald Orchard of Harleton; six grandchildren, Jimmy Don and wife Christy Jones, Karen and husband Nathan Wehring, both of Hallsville, Michael Wayne and wife Kimberly Orchard, Deanna Donette Orchard Simmons, Cynthia Renee Orchard, and William David Orchard, all of Houston; nine great grandchildren; James, Justin, and Laynie Jones, Kathryn, Jeremy, and Sarah Wehring, Kristen and Kyle Orchard, and Rachael Simmons; several nieces and nephews.
Bernell was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Ward Richardson, four brothers; Everett Earl, George Curtis , Gilbert Wylie , and David Lawrence Sallee; three sisters; Ruby Maybelle Sallee, Edna Corrine Rogers, and Ruth Irene Thornton.
Mrs Richardson moved to the Longview area in 1946 and lived in Hallsville for 49 years. She was employed by Brookshires Grocery and Lee Optical. She loved to fish, camp-out, and have family gatherings with lots of guitar playing, fiddles, singing, dancing and games. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who always put family first.
