Growing up I spent many happy hours in the Childress home, there was always a place for me at their table. On cold days you could count on Bud having the biggest warmest fire burning and a place for you to sit next to it. He was an excellent example of what a hard working man that loved his family is and should be. I'll never forget the time I spent watching football with Bud and David, or listening to Marty Robbins or Johnny Cash or watching Bud work on an old car or truck. He was a good man and like a father to me too. I will miss him very much.
It is my prayer that his grand sons and great grand sons follow in his example in their lives and that his grand daughters are smart enough to seek out and fortunate enough to find men like Bud Childress to share their lives with.
Bud shared with me his testimony about his personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of this I know I will have the pleasure of being with Bud again. It is a great comfort to know that he is with his savior and reunited with Pat, Betty and David and all those who have put their trust in Him. For those of us who believe in Him will receive that same grace and we too will be reunited when we are called home.
John 14 1-7
'Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
